Artist’s Note:
After exploring different perspectives, colour palettes and surfaces throughout this series, I approached the bloom in Blush Pink Ranunculus No. 5 with a deeper understanding of the ranunculus and the qualities I wanted to emphasize. I focused on creating a balanced composition while refining the intricate centre of the flower. At the centre, defined green curls draw the eye inward, while subtle transitions of colour move outward into soft pinks and delicate orange highlights within the petals. The result is a bloom that feels fresh and refined, with a quiet elegance created through its soft colour transitions and balanced form.

Artist’s Note:
While Blush Pink Ranunculus No. 4 maintains the light and delicate quality of the blush pink ranunculus that inspired it, the darker palette evokes a more intimate and moody feeling, with pockets of deep colour highlighting the inner folds of the flower. The eye is naturally drawn to the centre of the bloom, where rich fuchsia, pink and warm burnt orange tones emerge from within the layered petals, creating a striking contrast against the vibrant green centre. The balanced shape of this particular bloom creates a sense of harmony. The result is a floating, airy composition where the viewer is invited to linger on the interplay between the vibrant centre and the delicate layers of petals.

Artist’s Note:
After experimenting with cold-pressed watercolour paper, I began exploring hot-pressed watercolour paper as a new surface for my alcohol-based markers. With Blush Pink Ranunculus No. 3, I found that working on its smooth surface brought a softer, silkier quality to the petals while still preserving the expressive brush-tip strokes that are central to my work.
The eye is immediately drawn to the intricate green curls in the centre of the bloom, where hints of green and yellow give way to warm peach, pink and reddish fuchsia tones within the petals. The result is a piece that feels fresh, bright and airy while maintaining a sense of softness and calm through its delicate colour transitions and silky texture.

Artist’s Note:
With Blush Pink Ranunculus No. 2,I decided to experiment using alcohol-based markers on cold-pressed watercolour paper, a surface that I hoped would still allow me to build layers of ink. I was drawn to the weight and texture of this particular paper, but I discovered that its more pronounced texture created a very different drawing experience. While it limited the blending techniques I had become accustomed to, it encouraged me to embrace the expressive quality of the visible brush-tip strokes.
The result was a piece with a distinct texture and atmosphere. Rich burgundy and reddish tones emerge from within the petals, softened by layers of peach and pink hues, while the detailed green centre draws the eye into the heart of the bloom. Without a stem, this ranunculus appears almost suspended, allowing the viewer to linger on the intricate green centre nestled within the layered petals.
This piece is best appreciated from a distance, where the individual strokes come together to reveal soft, floating petals with a velvety quality and layered depth.

Artist’s Note:
One day, I decided to visit the florist who created the flowers for my wedding, hoping to find inspiration in a flower I had never drawn before. Among the beautiful blooms they had available, I found myself drawn to their large blush pink ranunculi, which also happened to be one of the flowers featured in my wedding bouquet. What captivated me most was the intricate green centre of each bloom. Working with the ranunculus challenged me to embrace a much lighter palette in Blush Pink Ranunculus No. 1 than I had used before and allowed me to explore a refreshing new direction in my work. Pink and peach tones peek through delicate layers of grey, resulting in a softer floral interpretation than my earlier drawings.

Artist’s Note:
Pink Peony No. 1 was my first drawing using alcohol-based markers featuring a peony. It was in this piece that the feather-like strokes that became central to my floral work first began to emerge. The vibrant fuchsia strokes, deep burgundy accents and soft pink highlights flow across the petals, creating a sense of movement and depth. The star-like arrangement of the petals, which seem to float within the space around them, gives this piece a graceful elegance and balance.
In 2021, captivated by the vibrant pink peonies in my mother’s garden, I photographed three different peonies that later became the inspiration for Pink Peony No. 1, Pink Peony No. 2 and Pink Peony No. 3. Created one after another, these three drawings share a similar colour palette and artistic approach, while each bloom retains its own distinct character. Whether displayed vertically, side by side or arranged in a more organic way, the prints of these three drawings come together beautifully while allowing each individual flower to stand on its own.

Artist’s Note:
Pink Peony No. 2 has a quiet, moody presence that sets it apart from my other work. Rich fuchsia tones blend into darker burgundy strokes within the petals, creating dramatic shadows and a sense of movement throughout the bloom. The interplay between light and dark strokes encourages the eye to follow the lines and movement of each unfolding petal. While the vibrant pinks remain present, they are somewhat shrouded in deeper tones, creating a more intimate and contemplative atmosphere.

Artist’s Note:
Pink Peony No. 3 features a peony gently facing downward while its upper petals open outward toward the light, allowing glimpses of sunlight into its centre. The interplay between the softly unfurling petals and the subtle shadows within the rich pink bloom creates a delicate balance of depth and airiness, leaving the viewer with a quietly hopeful feeling. The original drawing featured genuine gold leaf applied to the yellow stamens at the centre of the flower, and this limited edition print preserves the subtle texture and light-catching character of that surface.

Artist’s Note:
Pink Peony No. 4 is one of my favourite floral drawings. It features an elongated composition of a pink peony, with petals flowing outward and billowing with a strong sense of energy, movement and presence. The bloom is built through layers of vivid burgundy, fuchsia pink and soft pink strokes, with deep shadows woven throughout the petals to create contrast, depth and intensity. The golden yellow stamens and green pistils with delicate pink tips provide a striking contrast against the rich pink petals. Bold yet graceful, Pink Peony No. 4 reflects resilience and the quiet power of this regal bloom.

Artist’s Note:
Peach Peony No. 1 celebrates the warmth of a peach-hued bloom through a richly layered palette of peach, soft pink, and fuchsia. The interplay of these colours creates petals full of depth, movement and luminosity, while the rounded form of the flower brings a quiet sense of balance. One of my favourite details is the sunlight illuminating the heart of the bloom, where the delicate shadows cast by the golden yellow stamens fall across the petals beneath, adding another layer of depth and quiet beauty.
Inspired by the same photograph of one of my mother's peonies, Peach Peony No. 1 and Peach Peony No. 2 are two different interpretations of the same bloom. Though similar at first glance, as you move closer, each drawing gradually reveals its own personality. Displayed together, the prints create a warm, balanced pairing while allowing the unique character of each bloom to emerge.

When I started Cherry Blossoms No. 1, I wasn’t sure how it would come together. As the original drawing developed, I fell in love with the composition – the way the branches extend from different areas of the board, creating a sense of movement and spontaneity. The wildness of the branches is balanced by their wood-like texture and the gentle clusters of cherry blossoms and accompanying greenery, creating an organic and peaceful quality within the piece.

Elegant yet striking, Black and White Peony No. 1 surrounds the peony with a smoky, blurred backdrop that reveals it in a subtle spotlight. While the monochromatic palette allows the piece to blend seamlessly into a space, the dramatic contrast and atmosphere invite the eye to linger.

Artist’s Note:
As I began developing my approach to floral artwork, I experimented with different mediums and textures. This limited edition print captures the subtle variations and weathered texture of the gold leaf surface used in the original piece. I had layered the original gold leaf with acrylic ink, allowing my brush strokes to flow through the petals and create movement within the bloom.
The warm golden petals are complemented by the red, orange and yellow tones of the centre, while the layered greens of the stem and leaves ground the composition. This piece creates a peaceful yet captivating presence – a peony that feels both enduring and resilient, bringing together colour, texture and movement.
